"When health is absent, wisdom cannot reveal itself, art cannot manifest, strength cannot fight, wealth becomes useless, and intelligence cannot be applied."
At United Way of Morgan County, we believe that the healthy minds and bodies of its residents are key to a healthy community. That’s why we are working with local health and welfare organizations to identify this community’s needs and fund programs that help meet those needs.
"Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young."
- Henry Ford
It doesn't matter how old you are or how physically or mentally gifted or challenged you may be. Every person deserves to develop his or her mind and train his or her body to achieve their fullest potential. Not only will that contribute to the well being of the individual and his or her family, but it will result in cures for diseases, cars that start when we turn the key, stocked grocery store shelves, and a million more things that impact our daily lives and impact humanity as a whole.
That's why we, at the United Way of Morgan County, support programs that give individuals the opportunity to learn and grow into the best versions of themselves that they can be.
"It is a common condition of being poor…you are always afraid that the good things in your life are temporary, that someone can take them away, because you have no power beyond your own brute strength to stop them."
- Rick Bragg
Most of us are blessed beyond what our parents or grandparents could have imagined, but there are many others who struggle from meal to meal and must decide whether to pay their rent or buy their medicine. United Way supports local agencies that bridge the gaps and seek to give individuals and families the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to find and maintain financial stability.
