Read Across America

CELEBRATE THE JOY OF READING!

March 2nd, 2024 is National Read Across America Day and the birthday of Dr. Seuss. The day recognizes the value of literacy. It calls all children and youth in every community across the United States to celebrate reading. This is an easy and fun way for volunteers to get engaged and spend time celebrating reading with local children.

This year, United Way of Morgan County is hosting its one-day event on March 6th. The event will take volunteers to first-grade classrooms all over Morgan County and Decatur City Schools, spreading the joy of reading. Volunteers will be provided with one book to read to each of the first-grade classrooms they sign up for, and the book will be gifted to that class. The books provided are from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library collection.
